Goodbye Shela
Jan. 7th, 2008 07:57 pmR.I.P.
Shela
1999-2008
You know my car? The one which I planned on driving another hundred thousand miles?
Let's review what has occurred to poor Shela within the past couple months.
She has been:
-Broken into
-Towed
-Rear Ended
-Had one of her tires explode
Finally today, she:
-Died
Yup. Shela is gone.
Lost traction on a turn and went right into the railing.
The Vehicle nearly flipped.
While it was being towed away, I realized that someone apparently smashed into my passenger side. I didn't even notice while the accident was occurring. Funny that.
The good news is that most of her innards are apparently intact, and I am miraculously fine.
The bad news is that the crash smashed her battery, right headlight, and most of the front right part of the body. Needless to say, Shela is not turning on anymore.
She was pronounced dead at 10:35 am, when I turned the ignition and she gave a final sad lurch before all of her lights turned off.
Imagine my further surprise when the police officer helped push me off the freeway and I discovered that my breaks weren't working either. The only thing which kept me from coasting through a red light was veering my car into a patch of dirt.
If I manage to find a 99 Ford Taurus in a Junkyard, I may Frankenstein some new paneling on her and get her a shiny new battery. Aside from that, Shela is currently buried under a tarp in my front yard.
Goodnight Shela.
Rest well.
Truly,
Kigs
PS:
I somehow made it to my interview on time. (I resigned from my other job last week)
They were very impressed by my ability to get in a serious car crash, total my vehicle, and somehow still managed to show up uninjured, on time, and fairly amiable. The branch manager interviewed me herself and mentioned that I was, "over qualified" for an entry level marketing job, so she may try to find me something better.
Good beans. I need them.
