AOL, Kicking puppies, and Smilie Faces
Mar. 6th, 2009 02:38 amDear internet,
I finally upgraded to a new version of aol instant messager. It has been years. My AIM has been a gray and red bland low-memory tidbit in the corner of my screen for as long as I can remember. Unobtrusive. Small. Not a big deal.
Then I made the mistake of upgrading it.
When did aol instant messager become a memory sucking cyber beast? The interface looks like it should be breaking the speed limit. It's full of thousands of scroll down menus, blinking lights, and flashing objects which I will never ever comprehend. Every time I type ":)", animated smiley face emoticons explode across my screen in a firework display of internet absurdity.
How do you upgrade BACK to my basic instant messager? I don't want all these flashing lights; they take up space. All I want is something I can message my friends on when I am bored.
Truly,
Kigs
